An Important Notice About Fake Fairies, Stolen Images, and Online Scams

I never imagined I would need to write a post like this, but it’s important that I share what’s been happening, both to protect my work and to help protect you.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve discovered that overseas sellers, primarily based in China, have been creating and selling fake resin versions of my handmade ceramic fairies. These sellers have stolen my images, videos, designs, and personal story and are using them to impersonate me online.

They are presenting themselves as if they are me, or as if they are authorised by me… when they are not.

What’s actually happening

I create my fairies slowly and by hand. Each fairy begins as clay in my studio and is individually sculpted, fired, glazed, and finished by me. They are original ceramic artworks, not moulded, mass-produced items.

The sellers I’m referring to have:

  • Copied my fairy designs and sculptural forms

  • Manufactured cheap resin imitations of my work

  • Stolen my photographs and videos to advertise these products

  • Used my name, story, and imagery to mislead buyers

  • Sell these fake items on marketplaces and social platforms worldwide

People are often led to believe they are purchasing one of my real fairies, only to receive a tiny, poor-quality resin copy that looks nothing like my original work.

The impact on my business (and on buyers)

This has been incredibly distressing and heartbreaking, not just for me, but for the people who have been misled.

Many customers reach out to me heartbroken, confused, or angry after realising they’ve been scammed. I want to be very clear: I do not sell through third-party sellers, marketplaces, or ads. If you have purchased one of these fake items, I am truly sorry, I know how disappointing that experience is.

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer refunds for items that were not purchased directly from me. In these cases, I always recommend contacting your bank or payment provider immediately to report the scam.

What I’m doing about it

I am actively and constantly:

  • Reporting infringing listings and accounts

  • Submitting copyright takedowns

  • Working with legal support in the United States

  • Filing reports on platforms where my work is being misused

Despite this, new listings continue to appear. This is sadly common with overseas counterfeit operations, when one is taken down, another often pops up in its place.

How you can protect yourself (and support my work)

The only way to purchase my authentic fairies is:

  • Directly through my official website

  • During a collection release

I never sell through:

  • Temu

  • Etsy sellers

  • Amazon

  • Pinterest ads

  • Facebook or Instagram ads

  • Any third-party website claiming to “stock” my fairies

If you ever see a listing and you’re unsure, please feel free to contact me directly. And if you come across a fake listing using my images, sending me the link helps more than you know.

Why I’m sharing this

I’ve always believed in sharing my work openly — my art, my process, my heart. While this experience has been incredibly challenging, I refuse to let it silence me or stop me from creating.

Thank you for supporting handmade art, original creators, and slow, intentional work. Your care, awareness, and kindness mean everything.

With love,
Gemma x
